MENARINI – ERS – BIKES

Activity: BIKES: A single-player dual game (separate desktop PCs connected to two separate front-facing screens) in which two participants, pedaling a touring bike, navigate digital routes. The two participants are free to turn the handlebars and pedal at different speeds, following different trajectories along the 3D digital route on the screen. Pedaling, through a wind dynamo, produces electricity. Each participant therefore performs at different times, different distances, with different electricity produced, different amounts of energy, and CO2 saved. Pedaling also activates electricity on two air purifiers (a corresponding pop-up appears to indicate that the two objects next to the bicycles are air purifiers). The two participants proceed independently on one of the two possible routes, enjoying content that appears at predetermined points along the route as pop-ups until they reach the end of the route. The screen will display the kilometers traveled, the energy produced, the CO2 saved, and the number of trees planted by Menarini based on the kilometers traveled.

Hardware: Rotation and direction detection systems (on each bike), a game pause and restart system with dedicated buttons. Dynamo system for generating and measuring energy and for the resistance to be produced on the wheels. Air purifier activation system.
